Brave Technology Co-Op (Brave) is a medical device company with products designed to detect overdoses and activate life-saving community response whenever and wherever people use drugs. Brave is at the forefront of addressing the opioid overdose crisis that claims 116,000 lives and costs $1.6 trillion annually in Canada and the US. Their flagship innovations, the Brave Sensor and Brave Buttons, play a pivotal role in preventing fatal overdoses, instantly alerting on-site personnel to potential emergencies, providing peace of mind to community sites and businesses, and safeguarding frontline workers in shared housing and community care centers from burnout and trauma—all while prioritizing individual privacy rights.

Each model started with a unit-level impact analysis, in this case the number of overdoses that were able to be reversed per facility where brave detection devices are installed. Impactable analyzed the outcomes if Brave’s devices had not been installed and had not provided early overdose detection, such as hospitalization, hypoxia, and mortality.
Brave then entered their financial projections, and Impactable automatically aggregated their total impact projections.
